Notice of Water Rate Adjustment Effective January 1, 2026
The Wernersville Municipal Authority is committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality water service to our community. To continue meeting these standards and to ensure the long-term sustainability of our water system, the Board of Directors has approved two rate adjustments for 2026. The first is that the base charge for 5,250 gallons will increase from $42.75 to $55.00. The second is an increase of $1.00 per 1,000 gallons of water used after the first 5,250 gallons. This rate increase is effective January 1, 2026. For customers with a minimum bill, this increase equates to an increase of $4.08 a month.
This rate increase was not taken lightly, but it is necessary to fund capital improvement projects that will replace aging infrastructure, improve system efficiency, and support continued compliance with state and federal water quality standards. These projects include upgrading water lines, rehabilitating storage tanks, and improving pumping facilities. Since the last rate increase on September 1, 1992 (33+ years ago), we have worked diligently to control expenses and maintain affordable rates for our customers, but the aforementioned projects will be needed in the coming years.
Over the past 33 years, the costs of materials, labor, and regulatory compliance have continued to rise. This rate adjustment will help ensure we can continue delivering safe, dependable water service to every household and business in our community—now and for generations to come.
